Seven Benefits of Regular Exercise

Perhaps you have experienced already the benefits of regular exercise; perhaps a hectic holiday or work schedule has put those benefits out of your mind for a while. Perhaps you are trying to motivate your spouse or a friend to get with a program. The January 17th on-line edition of MayoClinic.com speaks to the seven benefits of regular physical activity.

According to the experts at the Mayo Clinic, regular exercise can do the following:

1.  Improve your mood

2.  Combat chronic disease (prevent or manage hypertension, prevent the onset of diabetes 2)

3.  Manage weight

4. Boost energy

5. Promote better sleep

6.  It can be fun!

7.  Put the spark back in your sex life, especially if you are feeling too tired or too out of shape to enjoy physical intimacy, physical activity can be "the rescue"

Just something to remember the next time you think about skipping a workout.  Staying focused on the benefits might be the inspiration you need for the perspiration you get when you cycle with Philip, body define with Maggie, work your core with Amy, or dance with Sergio.

Morning Cycle Schedule Changes

How does one introduce the idea of change to a group of dedicated morning cyclists who avidly follow their favorite instructor? One of the members' favorites, Heather McKenzie, has chosen to reduce her schedule by a couple of classes during her pregnancy. As your new Group Ex and Cycle Director, this was not something I anticipated - but Mother Nature trumps the best laid plans for everyone.

To our members, I thank you for your continued support of our cycle program and for your willingness to embrace a new face during your chosen cycle slot. Hopefully, you'll find what other members already know about the strengths and skills of these instructors.

The changes to our Monday/Wednesday AM cycle schedule begin Monday 1/18 unless otherwise noted and are as follows:

Monday at 9:15am Meghan

Monday at 10:30am Shanti

Wednesdays at 9:15am Leslie (50 minutes; starts 1/27)

Wednesdays at 10:30am Jessica
